Workshops

Following is a list of upcoming workshops I will be offering. All workshops will be in the elementary 501 computer lab unless otherwise noted. If you would like to attend a workshop or have a question about a workshop, post a comment or send me an email message to my school email address.

Website/Blog Updating

Has it been a while since you took your website workshop? Are your Dreamweaver skills feeling a little rusty? Do you simply need time to update your class site/blog? This workshop provides time to update your class website/blog with a support person available to answer questions and help you refresh your web design skills. Learn additional skills such as creating a web photo album and adding your newsletters to your site.

March 6 – 2:30-4:30 (come for as long as you need)

Blogging 101

Learn how to use blogs for interactive student projects, home/school communication, literature response activities, and for your own professional development. This workshop will show you how to find great blogs to read and subscribe to, and you will create your own blog for use in your classroom. You can even use your blog as a class website! This workshop is easy and fun, so come join me for Blogging 101!

April 3 – 3:00-5:00 in the Elementary Library

Blog Bling (aka – Add fun stuff to your blog)

Now that you have a blog up and running, learn to add the fun extras to your site. Participants will learn how to add photos, slideshows, videos, avatars, and more. :) You must have taken Blogging 101 to take this workshop.

April 17 – 3:00-5:00

Storytelling and More with VoiceThread

VoiceThread is an online media album that can hold images, videos, and documents, and allows people to make comments using voice, text, and video. These albums can then be shared with anyone! You can create online stories, field trips, and more with VoiceThread. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

1. Create your own VoiceThreads featuring images, voice & text comments
2. See how VoiceThread is being used in education
3. Brainstorm applications for your classroom

This is an easy-to-use tool that you can go back and immediately use in your classroom!

Podcasting Basics

Learn the basics of creating your own educational podcast. This workshop will show you examples of existing educational podcast projects and will show you how to create a simple podcast using free tools and hosting services.

We will clue you in on how easily you can implement interactive online tools in the classroom to enhance learning and collaboration with your students and supplement your own professional development.
